I invited our local community to come out and get some free photos at our local park. The turnout wasn’t amazing but considering how hot it was and the potential for rain it went very well. We had several groups show up to participate.
The idea was to help me build up my portfolio of portraits in exchange for edited digital images. It was a great learning experience. For example I learned that 4 hours in the humid sun can really drain your water reserves and that next time I should be sure to bring a cooler with some cold beverages. I learned that I am really bad with remembering names and that I need to try to be better at that. I learned that when you think you are done, take a few more shots. All in all those that participated are helping me to become a better photographer.
This experience gave me the opportunity put myself out there. While normally I am pretty quiet and reserved, I found myself reaching out to perfect strangers and engaging in conversation that could lead to potential business. It was a really good way to get me out of my shell and I am seriously thinking about doing again just for that experience.
To those that participated, I once again thank you for your time.
